We want to salute our featured merchant “Elizabeth’s Vintage Shop” and thank Elizabeth for her contribution to keeping vintage alive and being a loyal Golden Nugget tenant.
Elizabeth Freame has been a vendor shop owner here at the Golden Nugget for over 45 years. “Elizabeth’s Vintage Shop” specializes in Victorian era clothing and vintage clothing from the early 1900’s, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and now even 70’s vintage. Elizabeth acquired a taste for clothing, shall we say, the old-fashioned way, she inherited it.
Elizabeth’s grandfather, Raymond Marshall, oversaw purchasing silk for the J.H. and C.K. Eagle Silk mill in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. His vocation demanded part time residence and extensive travel throughout Eastern Asia. With homes in both Shanghai and Shamokin, her grandparents accumulated possessions that included wonderful garments and textiles of all kinds.
With her grandparents passing, Elizabeth set out to help the family liquidate these estate belongings. She remembers fondly it was her idea to head to our very own Golden Nugget Antique Flea Market.
Her beginnings at the Golden Nugget consisted of selling at outside tables for approximately 3-4 years before opening her own shop more than 40 years ago.
What a wonderful shop it is. You will find any number of ladies hats, which are her bestseller and vintage clothing from the early 1900’s to the 1970’s. What makes Elizabeth’s shop so unique is the loving care she puts into each garment. Just like her grandfather before her, she spends hours and hours each month shopping for and selecting the best items the current markets have to offer. Unlike her grandfather, she is shopping for vintage and heritage garments now. These garments are antiquities and are harder to find thus need tender loving care to be restored and resurrected.
You won’t find anyone who pays more attention to detail or puts more effort to bring an outfit back to life. “I love what I do. I love sewing and like the feeling of accomplishment when I bring a garment back to life.” Elizabeth’s loyal customers travel quite some distance to see her current inventory – some traveling from a few states away.
